About Christa M. Miller

Born in New York City, I've since lived in West Virginia, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine. After I graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1997, I continued my work on campus in computer technical support. However, influenced by my coworkers who pursued their own (musical) creative interests, I began to write part-time.

Eventually I left my job to go full-time. My customer-service experience gave me the tools I needed to meet both editors' and sources' needs, and I soon found myself with numerous contracts. Flexibility became my new business model in 2003, when my first child was born. While I continued to write articles, I found new opportunities - including a return to fiction.

My fiction reflects many of the issues that are on my mind, but unable to make it into my articles. I am especially interested in crime and how it affects people, not just in the moment, but also over the long term. How do individuals cope with others' selfishness? Why do some people rise above it, and others continue the cycle? These questions gained an extra dimension after I had children.

When I'm not writing, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons, reading, gardening, and swimming. I live in northern New England.
